As the blood moon eclipse passes us here under the blanket of clouds, last night we moved even closer to the fall season. Things here at the lake have settled down after the wonderful summer. The upcoming month is a great opportunity to hike and enjoy the cooler weather and the famous fall foliage.
Just a friendly reminder that we are very close to some truly farm fresh foods, a lot of them being organic. Break out the water baths and pressure canners and put away some of your own fresh foods. There is nothing better than popping open a jar of green beans, bird egg shell beans, tomatoes or an assortment of pickled veggies and sweet jams during the upcoming year. If you’re in town go check out the farmers market in Oakland for some fall food favorites. Bob and I spent some time and put enough of our favorite veggies up to get us through for a long time. It’s hard work but the end result is very healthy and satisfying.
Autumn Glory weekend is coming up here, October 7-11, for those of you that will be around. This small town festival is the backbone to our existence here in the United States. The parade is always a highlight for the children and adults alike. Here is Bob and our niece at last year’s parade, and my son Griffin’s 2nd parade.
