Fishing Deep Creek Lake Maryland. The alarm clock is not met with as much resistance when you are scheduled for a morning of fishing at Deep Creek Lake. There’s almost an overdrive of energy that kicks in as you snap out of bed anticipating the stringer full of fish you are destined to come home with. 5:00AM actually never felt better since this is to be my first fishing trip of the season. I head down to the docks to meet a few family members and off we go racing towards his go-to walleye spot (I’d share it with you but I’m sworn to secrecy) .
Although most mornings this summer have been calm winds, this morning the wind had a firm float to it making conditions difficult for productive fishing. We did get to watch an amazing sunrise and see a nice couple on kayaks. So, after about an hour we take our pontoon boat back to the dock where we started fishing around the boats. Not a few minutes go by before we start hooking into fish. Walleye, yellow perch, crappie and bluegill are on tap this morning with all of us getting four or so keepers. All the walleye were under the 15” minimum except the hog I lost trying to flip up on the dock before we were leaving. I swear; I had witnesses!
If you are fishing Deep Creek Lake Maryland, don’t feel you have to have an expensive souped-up bass boat to enjoy fishing here. Don’t get me wrong, it is nice, but not a necessity. We landed a decent mess of fish in a short amount of time from the dock but the shoreline can be just as productive. Take the kids out on your next visit and catch you a stringer full for supper! Just another fantastic experience here at Deep Creek Lake! Recommended!
