May flowers are blooming, and events at Deep Creek Lake are springing up everywhere! We’re just a few weeks away from Memorial Day – the unofficial start of summer at the lake.
If you are visiting the area, here are a few of my suggestions for events at Deep Creek that you don’t want to miss during late May and early June.
GRANTSVILLE NATIONAL ROAD FESTIVAL
May 14-May 21, 2016
A variety of events highlight this celebration of the rich history of Grantsville and the National Road. MORE INFO
May 14 – Town-wide yardsale
May 16 – Dr. Neal Brooks historic presentation at the Casselman Inn.
May 18 – The National Pike Wagon Trail will gather at the Grantsville Auction House and at 9AM on Thursday, they start their 40 mile journey heading west to Uniontown, PA.
May 18 – Pecha Kucha Night at The Cornucopia Café. See short speeches on any topic under the sun.
May 19-21 – Cinderblocks3: The Partnership with Patients Continues. Witness this coming together of voices and players within the world of healthcare. Players include doctors that sing, physical therapists that fire dance, and artists that focus on data.
May 21 – The Little Crossings Festival, Artisan & Epicurean Faire. Held on the banks of the Casselman River, vendors range from artisan cheese makers to local craftsmen. There’s also a beer and wine tent with samples available.

June 3-4, 2016
Formerly the McHenry Highland Festival, this event is back at a new location in the town of Friendsville. Experience traditional Celtic music, border collie herding demonstrations, historic Highland Athletic Games, great food, and much more. MORE INFO
