Mountain Fresh Farmers Market is one of my favorite things about summer in Garrett County. Vegetables, fruit, locally raised meat, farm fresh eggs, honey and pottery are just a few of the items you can pick up. Also, my kids love it too! They enjoy helping to choose the different, brightly colored veggies to take home. It is truly a highlight of life in Western Maryland.
About Mountain Fresh Farmers Market
Mountain Fresh Farmers Market is sponsored by the Mountain Fresh Producers Association. It is a non-profit group of farmers, bakers, artisans and cooks. Vendors must create the items that they sell.
The summer market begins the first weekend in June. It runs through the end of October. The selling starts promptly at 10AM every Wednesday and Saturday. I advise getting there a little early on Saturday to beat the crowd. Held in downtown Oakland, you can grab breakfast at Englander’s Grill & Soda Fountain and browse their antiques as well.
During the Autumn Glory Festival, the market is open Wednesday through Saturday for the Glorious Harvest Farmers Market & Craft Show.
Winter Market
In November 2017, the association began Saturday winter markets. Those are held indoors at the Mary Browning Senior Center. You can still get many of your favorite items Saturdays from 11AM- 1PM. Because inclement weather can arise, check their Facebook page to confirm the schedule.
