Wolf Den Run State Park

Wolf Den Run State Park is Garrett County’s newest state park. Opening day is July 15, 2019. This rugged wilderness area is filled with trails that will be open to off road vehicles (ORVs) as well as hikers. It is the eighth State Park in our area.

About Wolf Den Run State Park

The park is made up of three separate parcels. There is about three miles of frontage on the Potomac River’s North Branch. You will also find three brook trout streams, 1,700 acres of mixed forest and bluffs that are 900 feet above the Potomac River. Each parcel has a mix of mountainous terrain along with streams, meadows and wetlands.

Phase 1 – Huckleberry Rocks Area

The first parcel to open is the Huckleberry Rocks area. The park entrance for this area is located at 890 North Hill Road in Kitzmiller. There are 12.5 miles of trails available for motorized recreation. Of that, 6.5 miles can be used by full-size vehicles.

Real Estate Questions Asked By Buyers

Real estate questions are important to ask when you are thinking about buying a home. The process can be daunting, but my years of experience help to put buyer’s at ease. I have heard just about every questions that there is. So, I put together a list of some of the most common real estate questions when buying a home.

Real Estate Questions & Answers for Buyers

How do I know what home I can afford?

The answer to that question is dependent on your income and financial obligations. Online calculators can help you get a rough idea. It is important to figure this out before you start browsing homes. Also, work with a lender to secure pre-approval for your home loan. That will make you a more attractive candidate to sellers as well.

How do I go about buying a home while selling my current home?

This can be a little tricky, but I help folks with this all the time. Keep in mind that if you buy a home before you sell the one you’re in, could be overextended financially. If your home sells before you buy, you might need to rent before while you secure a new home. You can also do both at once with a “sale contingency” in your contract. It states that you will only buy the home if you can sell the one you are in. This can be less attractive to your seller though.

5 Favorite Deep Creek Lake Spring Activities

My 5 favorite Deep Creek Lake spring activities celebrate this quieter season. It is a time of year that has a slower, more leisurely pace. You feel like you have the Deep Creek Lake area all to yourself. It is easy to enjoy outdoor recreation with friends and family.

Deep Creek Lake Spring Activities

Deep Creek Lake Spring Activities

Here are some of the highlights of a few favorite things to do during the spring months.

Fishing

Deep Creek Lake spring fishing starts as soon as the ice melts on the lake. McHenry Cove is a popular spot where you will often see lots of fisherman lining the banks.

Deep Creek Lake State Park is also a great spot for fishing. You can go to the fishing pier or fish from the shoreline (excluding the beach area). You can get your fishing license at the Discover Center or you can buy one online as well. This is definitely my pick for fishing if you are taking your little ones. If they fishing loses their attention, there are several different playgrounds to enjoy. Plus, the Disovery Center has lots of great environmental exhibits.
