700 Sunset Ridge Drive-Deep Creek Lake Area Mountain Home. Cozy chalet atop Sunset Ridge overlooking Garrett College with pastoral and mountain views. Just 3 miles from McHenry restaurants, shopping and Wisp Resort.
Greetings from Deep Creek Lake! If these photos do not smell like summer to you then it’s time to get out and enjoy your own slice of paradise here at DCL! For Mother’s Day, we paddled to Trader’s Coffee House – my request– for a café au lait and protein wrap. One of my favorite summertime stops by boat or paddleboard. Griffin enjoyed his first 2015 slice of sweet watermelon just this week and as you can see it made him very happy! Jensen is experiencing one of his first ice cream cones and is still deciding if the brain freeze is really worth it!
There is a change coming to our county building permit requirements as of July 1. Although the sprinkler system ordinance has been around for quite a while, Garrett County was able to work around its enforcement until now. Sprinkler systems will now be required in all new single family dwellings. If you are planning to build in the next year or so, you can apply for your building permit in June to avoid the sprinkler system requirement. A building permit is good for one year. The county will host a seminar on June 3rd from 3:00-5:00 in Room 205 of the Continuing Education Building at Garrett College. Presentations will be made by two gentlemen in the fire protection industry and the county will also review the permitting and inspection process relating to the installation of residential sprinkler systems. Anyone is welcome to attend.
The Spiker Team’s Featured Listings are two beautiful waterfront homes, neither of which have ever been rented. They are both equally pristine and ready to occupy. Greetings from Deep Creek Lake,
I hope your weekend was full of family fun, laughter and chocolate bunnies! Our boys, Griffin & Jensen, were not phased one bit by the furry guy. Quite shocking actually! The lake thawed just in time for a beautiful backdrop (photo taken from Unos/Honi). In just a few months the Honi-Honi lawn will be buzzing with people of all ages who have come out to enjoy the live music each Saturday afternoon throughout the summer. Dining by boat is just one of the things I look forward to doing on the lake each season. Paddleboarding, water skiing and fishing are also up there on my list!

It’s That Time…Start Scheduling Your Summer Home Maintenance Projects
This time of year is when our minds tend to shift toward cleaning up our yards, garages and vehicles. To get started, begin compiling a list of projects to get your home ready for the new season. Consult the checklist to keep projects organized and on schedule.
Clean your outdoor cooker – Make sure to get ready for all of those upcoming BBQs you will be having in the summer months by deep cleaning your grill.
To clean a gas grill: Turn up the heat to high with the lid closed for about 30 minutes. Once the grill has cooled down, use a grill brush to clean the grill.
To clean a charcoal grill: Empty the grill completely, cleaning off any leftover ashy residue with dish soap and warm water. Allow enough time for the grill to dry before you use it next.
Plan a watering schedule – Planning a watering schedule will ensure that your plants will stay healthy and hydrated during the hot summer months.
Trim tree limbs touching or near roof surface – Summer months can mean stormy weather. By performing regular tree maintenance you can reduce the risk of storm damage.
Vacuum upholstery and pillows – After getting the patio furniture out of storage, vacuum the upholstery to remove dirt and dust.
Clean out rain gutters and storm drains – Removing debris from gutters and storm drains can prevent clogging during storms.
Change out the HVAC filter – Put in a fresh filter at the start of the season to prevent indoor air pollution.
Wash all windows – Since the temperatures are up, this is a great time to get out and clean your windows.
Have your roof inspected – Have your roof inspected for leaks every 3-4 years or more often as it ages.
Clean out dryer vents – This is the perfect time to check your dryer vents to prevent build up.

Greetings from Deep Creek Lake,
Ahh, spring skiing! There’s nothing like breezing down nicely groomed slopes in 40-50º weather with a light layer of ski wear, just enough to protect your body in the event of a tail slide! And although it’s tempting to ditch the bulky helmet – don’t do it – protect your precious noggin. Not to fear, you have until March 29th to get in those last runs before Wisp ski operations come to a close.
Thinking of selling or upgrading this year? I want to give you your annual update on what your home is worth. I want you to be one of the few who are informed. You know the genuine value of “home and hearth,” but do you know the dollar value of your house–or how much of that value belongs to you? A number of key decisions can be more wisely made with the benefit of this knowledge. For instance, is your home adequately insured? Is your estate plan based on a realistic estimate of your home’s worth? Do you know how to measure the value of your home? A Comparative Market Analysis (CMA) is the only tool that provides current pricing of homes in your style in your area. With a recent CMA and knowledge of your home’s condition relative to others that have tested the market, you can know an accurate dollar amount for your home.
These are a few Spiker Team listings with recent price changes and two properties that are new to the market (one lakefront & one lake access – both with dock slips!).
Lakefront, 5 Bedrooms – Price Change
Slopefront + Water Views – Price Change
Lakefront Townhome – Dock, New Listing
Lake Access – Dock, Est. Rental, New Listing
Have a wonderful week and feel free to reach out to us!
Warm regards,
